Penny Parnevik is a reality star, podcast professional, influencer and mother of two children. We managed to get hold of her before her and husband Douglas Murray's third child was born. We talked about being a mother, setting boundaries for children and, of course, having siblings. That is, a conversation about being a mother and what goes with it. And surely you can feel it again?
” Even though I think I'm a good mother, I also have a thousand things I want to do better and that's okay!"
How do you see yourself as a mother, what kind of mother are you?
Oh, that's quite a big question! I identify myself very much as a mother and feel proud of my role as a mother. At home with us there are more yes and no, lots of love, but still structure/boundaries to hopefully create some awesome people. Even though I think I'm a good mom, I also have a thousand things I want to do better and that's okay!
“I love hanging out with moms who do things differently or even much better than me! Instead of feeling bad, I get insanely inspired!”
What kind of role models do you have in your parenting? (And why that particular person(s)?)
I love hanging out with moms who do things differently or even much better than me! Instead of feeling bad, I get insanely inspired! Some who inspire me that you may know are my mother, Celie Sparre, and Danijela Rundqvist.
You're expecting your third child very soon, congratulations so much fun! Do you talk to the children at home about the feelings around having siblings?
We talk about the baby in the belly all the time!!! Because I have always longed to be a mother, I think it is so interesting mother child psychology books and also podcasts. I have received a lot of advice on how to introduce a new family member and deal with all the different emotions around it. Right now it's just super happy and jagged feelings about the baby coming soon. And we try to make both children proud in the role of Big Brother and Big Sister!
"You should always give love and warmth AND it is incredibly important to teach children about boundaries."
Does it feel important to you to be a good role model and show what is real?
It feels SO important. But mostly I just do my own thing, live my life, and post just that without thinking too much. Having a big platform is a lot of responsibility that I take seriously but mostly I am grateful that it gives me the opportunity to live a flexible life where I can enjoy my family and my everyday life. I wish I could show even more "real" moments, but I also want to consider my children and what feels okay to share!
What do you think is the most important thing we can give our children? How do you think we can all support our children to grow up and become wise adults?
Love and structure are absolutely the most important in my opinion. You should always give love and warmth AND it is incredibly important to teach children about boundaries.
